Nissan Repair: sudden jerking and shaking, nissan murano, cvt transmission

I was driving my 2004 Nissan Murano and have noticed a metal on metal noise for a few days.  Today it suddenly got really loud and then my car started making a really loud sound as if I were draging something under my car and started jerking and shaking.  I was going about 30 to 40 mph and slowed way down.  It continued to do this.  I got home and looked under the car, nothing visually leaking or broken.  I also looked under the hood and again noting visual that I could see wrong.

The dragging sound could be the brakes and the jerking and shaking could be them grabbing.  Another cause could be the CVT transmission.  That is, the transmission has a constantly variable ratio and it could be that too.  I would need more information to be sure.
