Nissan Repair: Slow power windows, nissan pathfinder, haynes manual

Question
Von, I have a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE and all the windows are extremely slow.  I was wondering if the gears just had to be re-lubed or if the motor for each window has to be replaced.  Also, where should I go to get this done (the dealer, an electronics specialist, any garage) and how much should I be looking to pay.  I don't want to spend too much because I just had the #6 ignition coil and the bank 2 (downstream) O2 sensor replaced ($1300 total!).  Thanks for any help you can offer!

Answer
Chris,

If the Pathfinder goes through the carwash chances are that the tracks are really dry and have hard water deposits on them.  If you remove the door panels and the water barrier you can lubricate the tracks and the motor and regulator.  Also, use a rubber protectant like Armor All on the window tracks, both on top and in the door and you will be surprised how nice the windows work.  If you take it to a shop you are looking at something like $100 bucks a side in labor.  If you get a Haynes Manual or a factory service manual you can do it yourself and save a bundle.
