Nissan Repair: Parking Brake Cable Tension, parking brake cable, nissan sentra

Question
Hello Von,
It's me again, Tim.  The guy with the 2001 Nissan Sentra SE who just finished replacing the rear calipers.  Anyway, I noticed that the tension on my parking brake is next to zero.  I check the left rear wheel to make sure that I had the cable connected on it was.  The brake works but the lever has to be pulled all the way up.  I'll check the right rear wheel tomorrow to make sure everything is in place.  Anyway, my question is this:  is it possible to lose all the tension after replacing the calipers.  I'm thinking that something has to be wrong with the install as far as the cable goes.  I can see losing a bit but this is excessive.  After checking the other side I'll adjust the tension from the adjustment bolt under the console.  Just wanted to get your opinion on this one.

Thanks,
Tim

Answer
Tim,

The cable adjustment under the console is one option to tighten the cable or you can get under the car where the cable splits to both rear wheels and tighten it there too.  Just make sure you do not tighten it too much as not to cause drag on the rear brakes.
