Nissan Repair: 2001 Infiniti 1-30, oil dipstick, 2001 infiniti i30

Question
I'm looking at buying a 2001 Infiniti I30 with 127k miles on it.  The mileage is high, but I'm hoping (as with the Acura and Toyota), that these cars can go for 200k + miles no problem.  Are there any common problems with this model that you know of?  How wary should I be of the mileage?
Thanks so much,
Jody

Answer
Hi Jody -

Mileage is high, however the Infinity is a very durable car. Check to see first of all if the timing belt was replaced, if so, when. Usually should be replaced every 60,000 miles. Run the engine until it is at normal operating temperature. Turn the engine off, pull the oil dipstick and let it drip on the hot exhaust manifold. If it just burns off, then you are fine. If it sizzles, there is water in the oil, and I would not buy the car. Big job. As far as problems with this car, none that I know of.

Hope this helps -
