Nissan Repair: 94 pathfinder, plug wires, fuel filter

Question
Hello, My 94 pathfinder runs great, But on the way home from work the other day I had to make a stop.Went into the stor for about 30 mins.came out and tried to start the car. It turned over fine but the idle wouldn't pick up. i assisted in barely touching the gas and was able to keep it running. While driving it started to spit and sputter and then finally started going fine. I have changed the fuel filter, checked the fuel pressureafter the filter (60 psi) and changed the plug wires, dist.cap and rotor button. I still am having problems starting the engine after it is warm. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Answer
Hi David -

Try replacing the ignition module. This is located in the distributor. Most common symptoms are when the engine warms up, the madule will fail under the heat, and will not provide spark to the coil until the engine cools down again. There is a heat sync between the base of the distributor and the module. That has probably worn out. When replacing, ensure you restore that heat sync. It is a silicone like substance that sould come with the new module.

Hope this helps
