how do you change the water pump on 2.3 d nissan vanette cargo, also do you have to take the cambekt of to do so

I would get a factory service manual or a Haynes manual for diagrams of how to do the job.  Yes, replace the pump when you do the timing belt.  Or, in your case be sure to replace the belt while you are doing the pump.  Basically, you have to remove all the assessories to get to the waterpump and that includes the cover.  I like to replace the tensioner for the timing belt while it is disassembled since it wears at about the same rate as the waterpump.  You do not want to have to do this job twice...
