Nissan Repair: 1996 manual transmission, wrecking yard, taylor taylor

Yesterday my girlfriends 1996 Maxima decided that it would only go into 3rd gear.  This comes a few days after a transmission switch cracked and leaked out every drop of oil. So that was fixed, and now a few days later the car will only shift into 3rd gear out of neutral.  There's no oil leak anymore, that I'm sure of.  The car has over a 125,000 miles on it.  Any knowledge you can offer is greatly appreciated.

My thought is that the transmission, run dry, has internal damage.  You will end up removing it and taking it a part to diagnose the problem.  Could be a few parts or it could be many.  The only way to know for sure is to remove and disassemble.  Another option is a wrecking yard unit.
