Nissan Repair: 200SX wont start, steering column, headlights

my 200SX wont start, when you turn on the ignition it does'nt even click.i have radio, lights and all so icant be the battery.

Hi Kat -

Please double check if it is the battery by doing the following - With the headlights on, try starting the car again. If the headflights turn off, or go really dim, then it is the battery. Another way you can do this is to attempt to jump start it. If the vehicle still does not start, ot could them be the starter or ignition switch.

Quick way to check the starter is to tap the starter housing with a hammer. sometimes it loosens the carbon build up and the car will start for a few more times.

If this still does not work, then you will need a light tester 12V. Touch the probe to the small terminal of the starter. Have someone turn the key as if starting the car. If the tester lights up, it is the starter that needs replacement. If it does not light up, replace the ignition switch in the steering column.
