Nissan Repair: Speedometer flickers and car doesnt accelarate, nissan altima, speedometer

Hi,

I have a Nissan Altima 2001 70K miles. The car's speedometer cluster goes dead sometime and when the speedometer is dead the car accelaration doesnt go beyond certain (may be 50). It happens usually if the car has been standing in sun for long time. I took it to dealer, the dealer changed some speed sensor ($250) but that didn't fixed the problem. Dealer now says bring the car with the issue which occurs very infrequently.

Please provide with a solution to this, what should I ask the dealer to check for ?

Can you recommend any shop in NY ?

Either the speedometer sensor that was replaced is defective or the speedometer cluster is defective.  You could clean the connectors with tuner cleaner and then blow off the excess and try to reconnect.  But, from what you say the cluster is probably need to be replaced.
