Nissan Repair: 1987 Nissan Maxima, nissan maxima, rear wheels

Question
Ok a couple of things.  First of all, yesterday, I started my car, it cranked over, and stuttered during the start, and the car quit.  I went to turn it over again and start it; except this time, the car did nothing.  I charged up my battery thinking it could be that, and same thing only clicking.  I put in a new battery, and same thing only clicking.  I think it might be the starter, but i don't know for sure.  Or if there's anything else i can do to check something else first.  Also, with my breaks, i've had them in numerous times, what happens is, that there's a little area about 1 inch on the bottom of the break petal that will actually stop my car.  However there is no pressure to the breaks.  I take the car in, and i'll have pressure for about a day or so then the pressure will go away and i'm stuck with the little area of breaking.  What could that be?  Thanks for your advice!!!!!

Answer
Hi Dan -

Looks like the starter. Try getting a hammer an tapping the starter while turning the key. If the car starts, replace the starter. It will work for a few times more, but just replce it.

Brakes - looks like the master cylinder. Look for obvious leaks by the rear wheels, but if it is not there, i would replace the master.

Hope this helps -
