Nissan Repair: 01 Nissan Pathfinder vent selector stuck, nissan pathfinder, manual lever

Hi Calvin.
The vent selector on the climate control for my '01 Nissan Pathfinder is stuck on the last setting (windshield vents).
The knob itself resists turning.  Seems like something is jammed in one of the vents; could this cause the knob to be stuck?  Any suggestions on isolating and rectifying the problem?

Hi Frank -

This is a manual lever that connects with linkage to open and close the vent doors. A lot of times the vent doors get stuck, especially if you do not move the lever a lot. What probably happened is the seals fused the door shut due to heat in the vehicle.

The only fix is to manually look for the stuck vent door and pry it open, then coat the seal with grease, so it does not get stuck again. It should be located somewhere below the dash, perhaps near the passenger side of the cab.
