Nissan Repair: Automatic Transmission 2nd gear problem, nissan sentra, transmission mounts

Question
Ok so i got this car about a month ago, it has 90k!!!! sweet! 1991 Nissan Sentra 1.(something)L engine

The problem is most of the time when taking off from a stop the automatic tranmission bangs when shifting into 2nd gear from 1st gear. all other gears after that are smooth.  Sometimes I can take off from a stop and it doesn't do it, other times it does it. Fluid levels are fine. but when i bought the car it was nearly empty on tranny fluid. I swear I dumpped a whole bottle of tranny fluid in it so it must have been very low.  It still does it though. The car has not had many miles put on it in recent years but i'm using it as a daily driver to work and home. Any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem or afix?

Answer
Clayton,

First, you might look at the engine and transmission mounts.  If any are broken it will jerk going into second since first is such a low gear and the transition to second is hardest.  Second, the governor could be gummed up from the low fluid and not being driven.  So, a fluid change might help on the harsh second gear shift.  Those are the two most common causes for the second gear harsh shift.
