Nissan Repair: 1998 Altima failed emissions, vacuum lines, oxygen sensor

Question
1998 Altima SE 196k miles-OBD readiness result keeps coming up fail (had some vacuum lines replaced??) after MILES AND MILES of driving! Non-comtinuous monitor tests that are not complete are catalyst, evaporative system and EGR system. I was told to call Nissan to find out how to reset just one of these (any one of them). Any ideas?

Answer
Sue,

Take these one at a time.

Catalyst - probably the oxygen sensor or a bad converter

Evaporative system - a leaking hose from the gas tank to the canister or the hoses that come to and from the gas tank to the fuel fill or the engine.

EGR system - EGR probably needs to be replaced.

Go to Autozone or Checker and have them read the codes and email them back to me and let's see what is going on...
