Nissan Repair: 91 nissan D21 3.0 v6 timming belt, nissan d21, distributor cap

Question
My trusty truck simply shut off yesterday as I made a right turn. I suspect the timing belt. How can I troubleshoot? How can I repair myself?
Thanx

Answer
HI James -

First of all, lets see if it is the timing belt.

Remove the distributor cap and note the position of the rotor. Turn the engine by hand and see if the rotor moves. If it does not move, The timing belt is broken.

Please get back to me after this test -
