Nissan Repair: 1995 nissan pickup oil pan., nissan pickup, oil sump

Question
Hello,
I have a 1995 4x2 Nissan pickup with a 2.4L 4cyl engine that has a pinhole leak near the bottom of the oil pan. Before I attempt to remove the oil pan, is there any tricks to doing this? Does the exhaust need to be removed, engine lifted, or anything else that might create difficulty need to be done?

Thanks,
Brian M.

Answer
Hi Brian -

the oil pan should not come off with great difficulty. You might have to remove some components so that you can clear the oil sump that extends out into the oil pan. You will see it when it is removed. I am sorry I cannot picture it, so I cannot give you more detailed information -

However - have you thought about draining the oil out, cleaning the area that has a hole, and then welding it? If it is a pinhole leak, it is worth a try. Trick is to clean the area very well, the best thing to use is brake cleaner. I would try that first - would save a lot of hassle.

Hope this helps -
