Nissan Repair: service engine soon nissan altima 03, 2003 nissan altima, nissan altima

Question
hello
i own 2003 nissan altima 2.5, 4 celenders. i had my SES light on for about 6 months, the car was running perfect so i did not have it checked. upon my friends advice I took it to the nissan dealer to run diagnostics, the dealer told me I need new throttle body for the cost of 265 dollars labour included.I told him i will pick up the car now and bring it back next week for the repair, i did that because the car was running fine and i just wanted to know what was causing SES light,i paid 100$ for the diagnostics.
i took my car from the dealer's garage, after about 1 km my wipers went off by itself i tried to turn them off but they were kept going,, i turn  back to the dealr to have him checked, at the stop light the engine shut off completely , no lights nothing, dead, i called the dealr he ask me to bring the car, i called the tow truck, the guy give me the boost first , car  started i drove it to the dealer, we turn on the engine again, nothing... completely dead, dealer gave the boost,,this time car didn't start,,,now the dealer telling me i am having this problem because i did not repaired the throttle body, mind you i had been driving the car for about 5 months with SES on without any problem, my car never shut off on me ever.
i talked to the dealer this morning and he told me they see more error codes, something about sensor.
what i think is while performing the diagnostics they screwed up something, instead of correcting the error they caused they are trying to ripp me off, this is absoloutly disgusting .
can you please help me understand what might have happend.I am going to the dealer tomorrow and i am not paying them a penny, they screwed up my car and they need to fix it.
i will really appericiate your help

Answer
Jimmy,

First, I would think it was a coincidence that the car screwed up after picking it up from the dealer.  You probably have a defeceive battery since the age of the vehicle.  Nissan battery life is only three to five years.  I would have that checked and probably replace the battery depending on the results.  Autozone or Checker will do an electrical load inspection for free.  Replace the throttle body yourself and save some money.  courtesynissan.com sells diect to the public at jobber rates.  Also, rockauto.com is another source for parts.
