Nissan Repair: Car left idleling on 1/4 tank of fuel until it shutoff, nissan sentra 93, nissan sentra

Question
Hey there,my grandson went out partying and left his car idleing without shutting off.I assume it ran for a couple of hrs.The oil looked black and burnt. All the fluid was out the radiator and the cooolant had turned white. At first the car would not crank but it did when jumped off.But when the car was moved it raqn a little rough. The oil has been changed and the coolant will be flushed.I am thinking the transmission fluid is ok.Again, when the car was jumped off it cranked but ran a little rough. Then the mechanic checked the radiator and found that when he touched the hose to it, it just slid off.so I am assuming it melted. He says that it may run ok and be ok to get a new hose and radiator and may have survive this incident being that the car has 220,000 miles Nissan Sentra 93'.
Is he correct? If not likely will or is there engine damage. The check engine light is not on?   thanks

Answer
Hi Bob -

The first thing I would do is take a compression test on the engine cylinders. That will determine if some damage was done.

If the engine is running rough, perhaps a valve got burned. Hopefully not, as this is a big job.

Please take the compression test and get back to me so we can go through the diagnosis together - The compression should read at least 125psi on all cylinders with not more than 15% difference between cylinders.

thank you - get back to me -
