Nissan Repair: 2006 Nissan Sentra 5th gear whine, 2006 nissan sentra, nissan sentra

Question
Hi Von,
When my Sentra is in 5th gear and going between 60 and 65 mph, it starts a very pronounced whine, almost like feedback form the electrical system.  Here is the weird part, it only happens when the accelerator is pressed.  If I release the pedal, the whining stops even at the same speed.  No other gear does this at any speed, and I turned off all of the electronics in the car and it's still there.  Any ideas?

Answer
Fred,

If the engine is loaded like driving up a hill with the engine bucking.  If you downshift the lugging should go away...  If on a flat level surface you have a whine then the input shaft bushing on the transmission is probably worn and needs to be replaced...
