Nissan Repair: Transmission problem, rotor coil, nissan maxima

I have a 194 Nissan Maxima. The car starts and runs fine, has a slight exhaust leak. When drive is engaged it takes off shifts but when the tachometer reaches 3rd gear about 2400 rpm it falls back about 1800 rpm and no matter what speed the speedometer reads it goes no faster than 50 mph.

When was the last time you had a tune up? Does the car run rough when you are having these problems? Have you checked your fuel pump, distributor cap, rotor, coil wire?
