Nissan Repair: N13 pulsar - cracking flexplates, rattle gun, torque wrench

Question
I have an n13 pulsar that i had made from 2 old bombs. 1.8ltr out of one and the auto out of the other. anyway, got the car on the road and in 6 mths i have put 2 flexplates into it. I done the bolts up with a rattle gun both times. could this be the only reason why they are cracking or could there be another contributing factor?

Answer
Ian,

Yes, an impact wrench (rattle gun) will aid in the propogation of cracks from the bolt circle.  I would use a torque wrench and do them in a criss-cross order and do it in five increments.  Other factors could be a mis-alignment with the torque converter.
