Nissan Repair: cutoff with in cold codition, air control valve, cold weather

Question
The vehicle started in cold weather, but it will cutoff when put it in gear whether in the drive or in the reverse...but when it got warm up, there is no problem.  I assumed that it was ignition modulator but when I asked the guy in the AutoZone, he said to check on the idle air control.  I was not sure how to check this item? Do you?

Answer
Johnson,

Yes, the idle air control valve is probably what is causing the vehicle die when cold.  On the throttle body there is a valve that acts as the air entry point when at idle.  If you are having idle problems when cold this is probably where you should start.  Also, run a computer code check at Autozone or Checker for free to see if any codes are stored.
