Nissan Repair: nissan serina cd20, nissan serina, nissan serena


Question
i have a nissan serena cd20 jap import diesal which the timing belt broke in i replaised the belt and alined engine marks  but whin it is running it ticks over fine on its own whin you give it gas it looses power at 2000 rpm and woant go over it it also tends to stall if you rev it up and take your foot off the gas quickley i have tried advancing and retarding the timing both on the engine and the pump but it woant start whin i do this do you think the timing is still out and if so which is the right marks to aline the timimg to as it has two one yellow and one white i lined up to the white marks i have got books on the serena but cd20 is not covered in them as it is an import it dosent have a nock in it just no power and i cant figure it out aney help you could give i would be gratieful thanks

Seems to me like the timing belt is off a notch.

Manually turn the engine until you are at TDC. It should be the white notch. When it is aligned with the pointer, remove the distributor cap and see where the rotor is pointing. It should be exactly at the #1 tower of the cap. If not, you will need to remove the belt and realign it. Be careful when you reinstall, as the engine can turn easily at this point so could be thrown off without much effort.
