Nissan Repair: front indicator lights and side lights not working, nissan pulsar, battery cables

Question
Hi,I recently (accidently) incorrectly connected jump leads when trying to jump start an 89 nissan pulsar...now the indicators and front side lights are not working.
I've checked fuses and they seem ok. There is a small black cover with square 1 1/2" plastic blocks with spade / terminal connections underneath - when I try to use the lights / indicators there is a buzzing sound coming from them....oh yeah - there was a little smoke coming from this area when I connected the jump leads incorrectly. Can you confirm if these are the problem and how I might identify the faulty one? they are different colours and they have wiring diagram stuff on top....
Sorry for the technical term ignorance...any advice would be really appreciated. Cheers

Answer
Adam,

If the master fuses are good and that includes the ones at the positive battery cable then I would say the area that is buzzing is the relay box and that is what is blown from the battery cables being reversed.  Check each relay until you find the one that is defective.  It is nice that Nissan uses the same relay for many things and you can just switch a known good one for the suspect ones until you isolate the problem.
