Nissan Repair: 2002 Altima, oxygen sensor, gas cap

Question
Have a 2002 Altima with 101,000 miles. 75% of my driving is highway driving. About 6 weeks ago the service engine light came on. Stayed on for 5-6 days then went off for two to three days. This cycle continues. No drive ability problems. While at the dealer for yet another recall they checked it. though the light had gone off on this day. No codes were in the computer. I service car religiously.. 5 oil changes per year, flush cooling system every tow, etc. Any ideas?

Answer
John,

I would think the gas cap is defective or not tightened three clicks or perhaps an oxygen sensor is going out.  But, without the codes you will never know.  You will have to wait until the check engine light comes on and get the code checked.  I would go to Autozone or Checker to get the code read for free...  Email me if you need more or if you get the code read.
