Nissan Repair: 91 Maxima Electrical, fuse blows, aftermarket radio

Question
I recently replaced the ELECTRON BAT fuse when I traced it to my power seat belts refusal to retract while the car was off.  Now every time I turn the stereo on (stock Bose tape deck) the ELECTRON BAT fuse blows again. Would a short somewhere in the stereo wiring do this? Or could it be the deck itself somehow overloading the fuse? Also, the dashboard clock does not work.

Answer
Mike,

The radio probably has a short in the system or the power relay that feeds the amps and since the systems are fed by the same power source it blows the fuse.  I would disconnect the radio harness and remove the radio and see what is going on.  First, disconnect all but the power plug to the radio and see if the fuse blows.  If not it is the relay shorting or one of the amps that is taking the fuse out.  If the fuse blows with just power connected then you have a bad deck and it needs to be replaced.  You could go with an aftermarket radio much cheaper then replacing or repairing the Bose deck.
