Nissan Repair: Cooling System, heater hoses, hose clamps

Question
I have a 2000 Maxima that is getting hot... I have had to pull my thermostat in order to get water flow through out. When I put in the thermostat it will not open, I have tried three new ones. It starts getting hot again, I feel the hose that connects to the thermostat and it is not even warm. I try the other side and that hose is very hot. I'm assuming this has something to do with my heater only blowing hot when I accelerate, other wise it starts blowing cold. I have flushed, tried several thermostats and flushing with a cleaner.

Any help would be great,
Thanks, Bill

Answer
Bill,

If you have not tried a Nissan thermostat purchase one and install it.  Then, follow the air bleed instructions to get the air out of the system.  The system has trapped air and that keeps the coolant from circulating.  The bleeding procedures are basically to allow air out of the system.  If that does not work I like to crack open some of the clamps to the heater hoses until water comes out.  Then, tighten up the hose clamps.  But, it is vital to get the air out or the car will continue to heat up.  Also, use a Nissan thermostat.  It even comes with a new neck and gasket.
