Nissan Repair: maxima door indicator light, phillips screwdriver, courtesynissan

Question
I own a 1997 Maxima, and my door open warning light indicator keeps coming on.  Even when all my doors are properly shut.  The light prevents me from locking my door with the manufacture keyless remote.  Also, my interior and door step lights are on whenever the engine is on with the door indicator light on.  Is there a way to fix this?

Answer
See,

I would say one of the pin switches is broken.  Each door has that black rubber plunger that is the door indicator switch that both runs the dome light as well as tell the body control module that the doors are closed.  My bet is one has been hit sideways and has now broken.  Check each for actuation and then unscrew the one or more that feel broken.  Just takes a phillips screwdriver to remove the switch.  rockauto.com or courtesynissan.com are two excellent sources if you can wait on the mail.  Otherwise a good parts store and most likely the dealership.
