Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Sentra, 1.8 liter, 5 spd MT, crankshaft position sensor, mass airflow sensor

Question
Periodic engine miss at 1800 to 2000 RPMs and SES light appears.  Not the local Nissan dealer nor 2 other auto repair companies have correctly diagnosed problem. Replaced: ECU twice, Mass airflow sensor, crankshaft position sensor, catalytic converter, spark plugs, coil on #2 spark plug, battery, alternator and  flushed injectors 3 times.  All Cylinder compression is between 140 and 150 PSI.  Lots of time and $ and problem still exists.  Can you help?

Answer
Duane,

Sounds like the number 2 has a random misfire and they have done all the usual things to correct the problem.  I would go one better and replace the injector for that hole.  I know you have spent some real money on this one and I have seen several like it before.  Also, replace the sparkplug and if you have Bosch plugs replace them all with NGK or Nippondenso.  Lastly, and this one is a pain, someone would have to open the harness to the injectors and plugs and back-trace the wires to the ECM if the above does not work since there is an obvious electrical short that is intermittent and with the ECMs being replaced it would be in the harness and not the computer.  I gave you my thoughts and path forward from cheapest to most expensive so let me know how your quest goes.
