Nissan Repair: Nissan Primera P12 Diesel Engine Rattle, nissan primera p12, nissan p12

Hello Von, I have this strange problem which is not still figured out properly, and I am not the only one with this problem many other Nissan P12 diesel owners have similar. in Humid/cold weather the engine rattles and noise comes out of Timing Chain area, as like timing chain is hitting the walls of the chain cover, this continuous until engine's ambient temperature warms up sufficiently also This however does not happen in hot weather.

despite Nissan's recommendation of getting the engine serviced at 12K miles, I get my oil changed at 4K miles as to few, this is caused by timing chain tensioner and this problem can be sorted with frequent oil changes. Now, how frequent Nissan wants me to be? changing oil every 1200 miles rather than their recommended 12K. if you have any comment on the problem, help would be appreciated.

Change the oil yourself if you can to save a buck.  Also, use the lowest viscosity you can get to keep the warranty.  I would use synthetic if you have access to it.  The galleries for the oil are small and synthetic works wonders cleaning up the pathways for oil.
