Nissan Repair: 97 infinite wont start, haynes manual, battery cables

Question
I have the 97 Infinite that won't start after putting the battery wire on the wrong stud of the starter.  I've checked all the fuses under the dash and in the engine compartment they all check fine.  I don't know a good way to check the relays.  When trying to start, the coil lead runs about "7" volts.  When the switch is released to the run position it measures "0" but of course the car is not running.  Any more thoughts?  thanks jake

Answer
Jake,

Reversal of the battery cables is pretty serious and I would be checking the fuse links and fuses at the positive battery terminal as well as the wires to and from the starter and the ignition feed wires to see if they are burnt.  I know it sucks and I have worked on several where the cables have been reversed and it is a matter of going through the vehicle.  I have had to replace a ECM computer on a couple due to this as well.  I would back trace the wire that is giving you nothing when you are in the run mode and see where it is not getting power.  If you get a Haynes Manual they have the schematic which makes it much easier to back trace wires.  Now, the transistorized module could be cooked and if you checked the voltage on the coil side that could be burnt up.
