when the motor is warming up it has a real bad miss up to 2000rpm yet when its warmed up it goes good as gold

Could be a couple of things.  First, the sparkplugs could be getting old and that would cause a miss when the engine is cold and running rich.  After the car warms up and the fuel leans out the miss will go away.  Another cause would be that the cold start sensor is not reading correctly and not putting the Terrano into cold start mode.
