Nissan Repair: 86 300ZX NON TURBO NO START, rubber hoses, intake hose

Question
okay ill try to be brief,  just picked up a 86 300zx that hadn't run in about a year, guy said it was a fuel leak by injectors. ended up being one of the rubber hoses that comes off of the fuel press regulator. fixed that no more leak.  well heres my question.  it looks like previous owner may have had a fire because there is a burnt up wire that i believe used to connect to a sensor of some sort on the side of the fuel press reg.  the sensor is there but sortof melted off.  is this important and what does it do? thanks

Answer
Jason,

You are going to have to go through the wiring to see if any wires are melted together.  Also, check each injector for leaks internally.  That is, internally into the cylinder.  Also, if it has not run in a year drain the gas and refill and add a fuel treatment.  Now, change the sparkplugs, and motor oil to make sure it is not contaminated so you will not damage the engine.  A spritz of WD40 in the intake will aid in that first start.  Be sure to put the intake hose back on as it will not run with it off.
