Nissan Repair: Nissan Largo SXG, fuel line filter, nissan largo

Question
Hi. I have a Nissan Largo SXG. All of a sudden the battery light & fuel filter light (I think that is what it is, it is a picture that looks like a half full sink) have suddenly started flashing. I have drained the fuel line filter and still the same. There is also a clicking noise coming from one the relays just above the passenger wheel arch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Answer
Bill,

First off I would get the charge system checked to see where your voltage is.  I do not know what the other sensor is that is giving you an indication.  I would check the owners manual in the instrumentation section.  Check the manual and email me back.  The relay clicking could be due to a sensor screwing up and giving an intermittent ground.  It could also be that the alternator is defective and that is causing the relay to cycle.  Get the charge system checked first.  A simple volt/ohm meter can be used to verify alternator output at idle and then being the RPMs up to about 1500 and check again.  At idle you are looking at around 13 volts and at 1500 RPMs the alternator output should be around 14 volts.
