Nissan Repair: 99 maxima 6 cyl, how to replace expansion valve, heater hoses, expansion valve

Hello Von, having some trouble replacing expansion valve.Do i need to remove the whole black air box assembly in order to replace it or just the blower box? And if i do remove everything, do i need to undo the heater core as well?

Yes, the entire assembly has to come out to service the expansion valve.  It sucks but you already have the airconditioner discharged.  So, it is only a matter of disconnecting the heater hoses and the brace bolts on the fire wall and the one under the dash and you should be good to go.  Once that is done, split the case and replace the expansion valve.  It is not difficult but it is time consuming.  Just did one on a Stanza.  What a job.  But, now the airconditioner works great.
