my sunroof will only open about 4 inches and will only close about 2 inches.  what is wrong and how can i fix it?

The sun roof is difficult to repair and it sounds like your tracks are hanging up.  To start with you are going to have to remove the cover up front, by the switch, to get to the manual close feature due to the top not closing all the way.  To do the repair you will have to remove the headliner to get access to the tracks.  It is a weekend job if you have never done one.  If you take your time you can get it a part and out.  Ten millimeter nuts hold the assembly to the underside of the roof and it takes two people to get the unit out.  Then, it is a matter of going through the track and cables to see what is hanging up.
