Nissan Repair: Mirror replacement, side mirror, cable harness

Question
How do I go about removing and replacing the driver's side mirror on a 1996 maxima?

Answer
Tom,

First, remove the door panel by removing the plug on the handle and then remove the screw.  Remove the screw at the front and the red reflector gets taken out to see if there is a  screw there.  Remove the master control switch and unplug the harness after you have already rolled the driver's side window down.  After that, get a panel removal tool or a putty knife and insert between the door panel and the door and pry out gently as not to damage the retainer clips.  Do this all along the bottom and then sides of the door.  Lift up on the panel and pull out at the same time and it should come off.  Disconnect any wires left hooked up.  Set panel a side and peal back the insulation on the door to gain access to the bolts holding the mirror on.  Disconnect strain relief and the cable harness and pull mirror off.
