Nissan Repair: 87 Nissan 4x4 King Cab Pickup, neutral safety switch, nissan 4x4

Question
I think I'm having trouble with my ignition switch. When I turn off the engine, if I don't move the turn signal level so the right signal is on the parking lights will stay on and drain the battery. Sometimes, (like right now) it won't start but battery checks to be fully charged. If I play with turning the key off /on over and over again it will start.
If you think it is the ignition switch I would appreciate some instructions on how to replace it.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Answer
Ray,

Two problems here.  The first is the headlight/combination switch needs to be replaced.  Only takes a phillips screwdriver, the steering wheel does not have to come off.  rockauto.com or courtesynissan.com are good adn cheap on-line sources.  If you cannot wait check your local parts distributors.  The second is the neutral safety switch and not the ignition switch.  If the ignition switch was defective it would feel really loose and I bet it does not.  Most Nissan vehicles of your vintage end up needing the neutral safety switch.  If yours is automatic it is on the transmission.  If it is a manual it is the clutch pedal safety interlock switch.
