Nissan Repair: 86 nissan 300ZX - cranks but wont start, nissan 300zx, nissan repair

Question
My car was running fine, then while driving, it died.  Just died, at 30mph with no warning, no sputtering, just died.  I got it to start after a few minutes and was able to get it home.  Next morning, I went to start the car, after about 5 tries it started and then again, it died.  I disconnected the fuel line and it is getting gas, I changed the ignition coil, no luck, new distributor (but not the rotor or cap which look ok), no luck, thought it might be the timing belt, disassembled the whole !@#@$! car and the timing belt is fine, matches up perfectly.  I am not getting ANY spark to the distributor.  The car cranks and cranks but won't start.  I've checked all the wires, vacuum lines, fuses, relays, even cleaned the positive battery terminal looking for the smallest yet significant problem.  I've called Nissan repair shops, had friends over to help, no one can figure it out! The one part I have not yet replaced is the ignition module, but tested it seems to be okay as well.  Please help with anything you can think of, at this point, I am pulling my hair out over this car!  Thanks!

Answer
Corby,

CHeck the coil to see if it is getting power in both start and run mode.  Remember that the coil gets two different signals and one is 12 volts for starting and then 9 volts to run.  Check this first since you say you are getting gas.  I assume the engine turns over and does not start?  If this is the case you are looking at the ignition signal or the module or the distributor you replaced the old one with is defective.
