clutch will engage but car will not move more than 2 km per hour.  When handbrake is applied car will not stall.

Yes, it sounds like the clutch has gone out and will need to be replaced.  I would get a clutch kit to include a clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bushing and an alignment tool.  Get a Haynes Manual and follow the directions.
