Nissan Repair: altima fuel pump replacement, nissan altima, small screws

Question
my father in law has a problem changing the fuel pump in a 1994 nissan altima, from what he explained to me he's got the seat up and the pump exposed but he cant figure out how to release the pump from the car is there a clip holding the pump down or do you believe its rust welded to the car and he's just not giving it the grut, i havent seen the pump for my self but with some help i can guide him in the right direction.

Answer
once you have access to the fuel pump, there is a cover that comes off...usually 4 bolts, then you will have access to the gas tank.  Nissan is great for fuel pump replacements, you don't have to drop the tank.  anyways, once the access panel is removed you will see the tank, and the wiring that goes to the fuel pump.  the pump/sending unit is held in by 8 or 10 small screws.  once he cleans the area he will see this easier.  these can be a pain so tell him to take his time and get a good grip on the screws so he doesn't strip them.  be careful removing/installing, these are fragile items.  good luck with this, its real easy and you will be satisfied that you did the work yourself.  let me know the outcome.  xxp_Sebby@yahoo.com
