Nissan Repair: First SMOG check for 1997 240SX, california smog test, stock exhaust manifold

Question
I've had my Nissan 240SX for almost 4 years, but over half of that has been sitting in storage in Florida. In a few months I have Military orders to California, and even though I get to keep my Florida license plates I will need to pass a California SMOG test in order to get my base stickers. I really don't know what to expect with this since Florida doesn't have any sort of emissions testing.
The car has been kept up well before going into storage, tune ups before the recommended times, etc. I plan on doing a full tune up before I go in for the SMOG test as well.
My biggest concern is with the aftermarket parts I have on the car. It is limited to a header and exhaust. When I was installing those parts I found out that what I though was the "catalytic converter" was an empty pipe and the real cat was integrated into the stock exhaust manifold. I don't have any of the stock pieces that have been replaced. So I know at the very least I will need to get some sort of aftermarket cat, but I am worried that either the header or exhaust may cause issues. As far as I have been able to research the exhaust will pass the noise regulations for California without issue.
Any advice on what I may need to change or upgrade to pass. Also do you have any advice on a good catalytic converter to use.

Answer
Gabriel,

I lived in California Active Duty so I know the SMOG thing just to get your base decal.  California uses a Dyno so it will be a test with your car running, in gear, under a load.  The SMOG guy coould fail you for the aftermarket header.  But, probably they just want to see you pass the SMOG check.  Get an aftermarket converter and you should be fine with a recent tuneup.  You should drive the car and get it nice and warm before you go in for the SMOG.  What I mean is the car will be nice and warm from a freeway run.  Also, change the oil before you go in for the SMOG check and you should be fine.  Random Technology makes a good converter or any that is really big to reduce backpressure.
