Nissan Repair: 1995 Altima Auto Transmission, beep beep, torque converter

hi, my brother has a 95 altima (auto Transmission)...yesterday everytime he put the car in gear it died...we finally got it to go into gear by moving the shifter back and forth several times...but not the car will not move in reverse...thank you very much for your help...Terri

Sounds like the torque converter lock feature is stuck on.  Also, if there is no reverse that would indicate the band that applies it is worn out.  I would go to Cottman Transmission to have it checked out.  I have had good luck with them and not the beep beep guys.  Email me if you need more and just to let me know how it went.
