Nissan Repair: wont start sometimes, neutral safety switch, nissan pathfinder

my 97 nissan pathfinder will start initially in the mornings after sitting all nite and after a workday but will not start again after that initial start. I can drive to work but it will not start when i turn it off. i have to keep it running or it will have to sit again for a long period of time....the battery and starter appear to be fine when it does start ....no drag or power drain....i do not have to jump start it or anything...the only thing u have to do is wait... as if a relay is not closing or maybe overheated....do you have any suggestions before i resort to having a mechanic solve what seems to be a simple problem.....

I take it you mean that the Pathfinder will not turn over when you say it will not start?  If this is the case I would think the neutral safety switch is defective.  Email me back and let me know if this is the case.  You should be able to start it if you shift from park to neutral while turning the key.  Keep a foot on the brake in case it starts in gear.
