Nissan Repair: Transmission, lock nuts, throttle cable

Question
how to adjust the kick down in an automatic transmission in a bluebird DE.

Answer
Garvin,

The kickdown cable is adjusted at full throttle (engine off).  Have someone press the pedal to the floor (engine off) and then check the slack in the kickdown cable.  It is by the throttle body and has a couple of lock nuts on it as does the throttle cable.  So, make sure you get the correc tone.  Now, losen the two nuts and tighten up the tension by adjusting the nuts.  Not too tight as not to pull the cable loose in the transmission...  Just tighten it enough to remove the slack.  The car should shift properly now.  It seems that Nissan does not adjust the cable tight from the factory.  I like a crisp shift and adjust any that I have owned.
