what is the cost labor and parts to replace catalytic converter on a pathfinder 2001? I live in Atlanta.
I have found Catalytic converter for my car on Auto parts web site for $52.00 with free shipping. Why am I getting quotes for repair in the $550-$850 for repair?

As long as you are not looking at a factory converter you can go to an independent muffler shop and have them replace the converter for a couple of hundred dollars.  The ones you find on the internet are generic and will ahve to be welded on unless you pay more for the ones that bolt in place.  These are substantially more.  Check rockauto.com for some of the cheapest prices I have found.  You might get lucky and if you have the hand tools you could replace it yourself.
