Nissan Repair: Idle Speed, vacuum hoses, nissan xterra

Question
Hey I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra 4cyc 2 wheel manual drive. The idle is running about 300 to 400 higher rpm above 500 at idle speed. When driving at 50mph it's around 2000 before and now it is reaching around 2500 rpm. It ran a 1490 code so I change the egr valve and the transducer valve. I disconnected the battery to see if it would reset the code. Still there is no change. Any suggestions on what it could be or could it just be that the timing is a little high. Plus I don't hear or feel it kicking back down to idle speed during park and driving.

Answer
Chuck,

Check the PCV to make sure it is not leaking and any vacuum hoses are not cracked or loose.  Another issue is that the intake manifold could be leaking air at the gasket and that extra air would cause the high idle.  If you changed the EGR and transducer and the codes is still present leads me to think the passage is plugged up.  I would remove the valve and examine the port for carbon buildup or blockage.  Email me back with what you find.
