Nissan Repair: 2000Maxima Ignition Coils, chip change, coil design

Nissan changed the ignition coil design in July 2000. I own a 2000 Max (built Dec 1999). Can I install the redesigned ignition coils in the 2000 or would that also require a computer chip change?

It is just a matter of changing the coils.  The redesigned coils are externally the same.  The redesign is internal so they do not fail.  I have a 2000 Maxima and the change took under an hour with a ten millimeter socket, extension and ratchet.  While you are at change the spark plugs and it will run like new.
