Nissan Repair: Doesnt Start, nissan 300zx, duralast battery

Question
I have a Nissan 300zx (1990) - Non- turbo:  When I tried to turn it on in the morning, it didn't do a thing, no light/sounds, no clicks, it seemed like the car didn't have a battery.  I bought a Duralast battery a year ago at AutoZone, I replaced the alternator 6 months ago.  I tried jump-starting, it didn't do nothing, doesn't even try to turn.  I went to replace the battery with a new one, and placed it back again, it didn't do anything again.  Was wondering, do you think it needs a starter?  Possibly has the original one.  Oooh yes, I cleaned the battery posts, but the terminas look exposed and has areas of un-insulated battery cable.  Please advice me?  Does it seem like its a starter thing?

Answer
Noe,

If you replaced the battery and still have no power I would check the starter by bridging it with a length of wire from the positive battery to the small terminal on the starter.  If it does not turn over then you know the starter is defective.  Make sure you are in neutral if you have a manual transmission since you do not want the car to move on you.  If the cables are corroded I would replace them.
