Nissan Repair: Nissan Navara 2.5 td 2003, fuel pressure gauge, nissan navara

Question
I drive the above pickup and about once a week whilst travelling the engine shuts down. I have to stop switch off and re-start and then it will run fine again for about another week.Any suggestions.

Answer
Keith,

A couple of things here are that the fuel pump relay could be going out.  Second is the throttle poisition switch being wornout.  Third is the coil could be overheating for the ignition.  To make things simple get a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up and tape the readout end to the windshield.  Drive the truck until it does the thing where it dies.  If the pressure does not drop off then you know it is electrical and you could get a volt / ohm meter and begin the process of checking the throttle position switch and injectors.  Email me back and let me know what you find.
