Nissan Repair: 2001 Pathfinder coil replacement, mean time between failure, domino effect

Question
I had my Pathfinder checked as the engine light was flashing and it was idling rough. The dealer said one of the coils needs replacement but  it will cause a domino effect and all should be replaced at the same time. Do all 6 need replacing or just the one that is faulty?

Answer
Dave,

Your year model is not one of those that all the coils go bad on.  So, you could replace all of them.  But, you could do one here and another there.  I just replace all of them to be done with it...  Your choice but I like to know that something is corrected and done.  Mean time between failure (MTBF) states that like things are designed to fail close to the same time.  So, the choice is yours.
